About Gabriel Oak (Auscrowd) (standard form)

The David Austin ‘Gabriel Oak’ standard rose is a masterpiece that fills your garden with irresistible charm and a deep, warm pink color palette. Its lush, densely filled rosettes radiate pure romance, inspired by classic English gardens. With a powerful fruity fragrance that stimulates the senses, this English beauty combines the allure of old roses with the robust health and continuous blooming of modern breeding. A living work of art that enchants every season anew.

With a stately stem height of 110 cm, the ‘Gabriel Oak’ forms an impressive eye-catcher. Perfect as a solitary centerpiece in a border, on your terrace, or at the entrance, it immediately adds structure and volume to any outdoor space. Its deep green leaves and sturdy, dark purple stems provide a beautiful contrast to the deep pink flowers. Combine it with soft lavender or graceful Salvia for a harmonious and timeless English garden look.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the ‘Gabriel Oak’ standard rose directly from the grower, with over 40 years of expertise and passion. We personally select every David Austin rose for superior quality, rich bloom, and healthy growth. Our sustainable cultivation guarantees a strong, vital plant that brings joy to your garden for years. Experience the expertise of a family business and bring a piece of English romance home.

Care & Plants
Plant potted roses all year round, except during frost; bare-root roses from October to April. Dig a spacious planting hole, improve the soil with rose potting soil or compost, and make sure the graft union (swelling) is just above the ground. Water generously immediately after planting.
Prune the standard rose in early spring (around March) before growth begins. Remove dead, diseased, or weak wood, and cut back the remaining branches to 10-15 cm above the graft union, keeping 3-5 strong, outward-facing buds. Ensure an open crown structure.
Water the ‘Gabriel Oak’ standard rose regularly, especially during dry periods and when it is in a pot. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer, and mulch the base of the stem with compost to retain moisture and slowly release nutrients.
