Pure natural aphid control and soil care with diatomaceous earth

Healthy rose bushes deserve the best care. Aphids and other pests can damage the leaves and blooms, but with diatomaceous earth you choose a 100% natural solution. This versatile powder not only works effectively against aphids, spider mites, and beetles, but also improves soil structure and supports the overall growth of your Belle Epoque roses.

What is diatomaceous earth?

Diatomaceous earth, also known as kieselgur, is a fine powder made from fossil remains of microscopic algae (diatoms). It contains valuable minerals such as silicon, calcium, and magnesium that enrich the soil and strengthen the resistance of plants.

The benefits for roses

  • Natural aphid control – the sharp particles damage the exoskeleton of aphids and spider mites, causing them to dry out. Safe for bees and beneficial insects, provided it is not applied on flowers.
  • Improved soil structure – ensures better water retention and aeration, allowing roots to grow deeper and stronger.
  • Stronger plants – silicon strengthens the cell walls of roses, making them more resistant to diseases and pests.
  • Fungus prevention – reduces moisture on leaves and helps prevent powdery mildew and other fungal problems.
  • Liquid use possible – easily dissolved in water (20 g per litre) and sprayed on leaves and soil for even application.

Application in the rose garden

  • Pest control: sprinkle powder around the base or on affected parts (avoid flowers).
  • Soil improvement: mix it into the top layer of soil.
  • Fungus prevention: lightly dust on dry leaves.
  • Liquid use: spray a solution of 20 g per litre of water on leaves and soil.

Handy packaging

Our diatomaceous earth is delivered in compact mailbox parcels, so the shipping costs are only €5.95. This way you always have an affordable and environmentally friendly solution for healthy and strong roses.

With diatomaceous earth you combine natural rose nourishment and effective aphid control in one product – ideal for every rose lover who chooses sustainable gardening.

Roses in pots

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.

Roses with bare roots

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.

Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
