Japanese Rose BI – Noir is an elegant Japanese miniature rose with a deep, velvety appearance. Despite its compact size, this rose has a strong presence. It is a rose that combines refinement and strength in a small, perfectly balanced whole.

Noir proves that greatness lies not in size, but in presence.

The meaning of the name

Noir means black in French and refers to the deep, dark color of the flowers. Within Japanese aesthetics, dark does not stand for gloom, but for calm, depth, and contrast. Noir brings exactly that feeling to the garden.

Japanese origin & breeding

Noir was bred by Takashi Kawai in Japan and introduced in 1996.
The rose belongs to the group of miniature roses, loved for their compact growth and refined flower shape.

This background makes Noir particularly interesting for collectors of Japanese roses.

Flower & appearance

  • Flower color: very dark red to almost blackish

  • Flower shape: refined, classic for miniature roses

  • Appearance: velvety, intense, and elegant

  • Bloom: rich and repeated throughout the season

Because of its dark color, Noir forms a beautiful contrast with green foliage and lighter planting.

Growth & use in the garden

Japanese Rose BI – Noir is compact and versatile in use.

  • Type: miniature rose

  • Growth: compact and neat

  • Use: pots, borders, small gardens, terraces

Noir is especially suitable for enthusiasts who want to enjoy a special rose even in smaller spaces.

Japanese Rose BI – beauty in miniature

Noir is part of the Japanese Rose BI selection of Belle Epoque.
BI (美) stands for beauty in the Japanese meaning: attention to detail, balance, and feeling.

Within the collection, Noir represents the element of depth and contrast, but then in refined miniature form.

Roses in pots

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.

Roses with bare roots

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.

Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
