About Zephyrine Drouhin

Be enchanted by the timeless elegance of Rosa 'Zéphirine Drouhin', a true gem from our Belle Époque collection. This historic Bourbon rose, introduced in 1868, captivates with its abundant, semi-double cup-shaped flowers in a radiant warm pink. But what truly makes it unique are the silky, thornless stems that guarantee a gentle embrace of your garden. Enjoy the intense, sweet fragrance that spreads through your garden for months, transporting you to a romantic garden of times past.

Whether you are looking for an impressive climber for your pergola, wall, or fence, or a lush, bushy shrub for your border, 'Zéphirine Drouhin' adapts effortlessly. As a climbing rose, it reaches a majestic height of up to 4 meters, while as a shrub rose it remains more compact around 2.5 meters. Its exceptionally long flowering period from May through October provides a continuous spectacle of pink beauty and delightful scent, also attracting bees and butterflies for a lively garden.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, we cherish over 40 years of expertise and passion for roses. Every 'Zéphirine Drouhin' is cultivated with the utmost care and sustainable methods, ensuring you receive a healthy, vigorous plant that comes directly from our nursery to your garden. Choose the proven quality of a family business and let this historic beauty enrich your garden with its unparalleled charm and ease.

Care & Plants
Plant 'Zéphirine Drouhin' as a potted plant all year round, provided it is frost-free; bare-root roses should be planted from October to April. Dig a spacious planting hole, enrich the soil with rose potting soil or compost, and ensure that the graft union (swelling) is just below the ground for optimal growth. When planting multiple plants, maintain a distance of about 1-2 meters, depending on the desired use as a climber or shrub.
Prune 'Zéphirine Drouhin' in early spring, around March/April, when the harshest frost has passed. Remove dead, damaged, or weak branches down to healthy wood. Prune climbing roses by cutting back the side shoots to 2-3 buds from the main branches; for shrub forms, prune the branches back by about one-third for bushy growth.
Give 'Zéphirine Drouhin' enough water during dry periods and after planting, preferably in the early morning or late evening. Fertilize the rose in early spring and after the first bloom with a special organic rose fertilizer for a rich bloom. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
