About Minerva (standard rose)

Discover the enchanting 'Minerva', a cluster rose that brings a true revolution to your garden. This exceptional beauty opens its well-filled flowers in a deep, mysterious purple and then gradually transforms into a breathtaking blue as the summer progresses. A unique color spectacle rarely seen in the world of roses! Each flower, with an impressive diameter of about 8 cm, is beautifully highlighted by the glossy green leaves and emits a rich, classic rose fragrance that stimulates the senses and evokes memories of times gone by.

With a compact and elegant stature of about 70 cm high and 50 cm wide, 'Minerva' is the perfect choice for various garden applications. It feels just as at home in the foreground of a border, as an eye-catcher in a flower bed, or as an atmosphere enhancer in a spacious pot on your terrace or balcony. Its continuous blooming character, from June to late October, guarantees an uninterrupted flow of beautiful flowers and fragrance, making it a reliable and indispensable asset for every garden lover seeking both beauty and ease of use.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, we nurture our roses with passion and craftsmanship. As a family business with over 40 years of experience, we guarantee that every 'Minerva' rose leaving our nursery is grown with the utmost care and sustainable methods. You will receive a robust, healthy plant, directly from the grower, ready to enrich your garden with its unique charm and unparalleled quality. Choose Belle Époque and choose the certainty of a blooming future.

Care & Plants
Plant 'Minerva' preferably in the fall (October-November) or early spring (March-April) for bare-root roses; potted roses can be planted year-round. Choose a spot with at least 4 hours of sunlight per day and well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a planting hole twice as wide as the root ball and ensure the graft union is just below ground level; water generously after planting.
Prune 'Minerva' in early spring, as soon as the worst frost has passed (March/April). Remove dead, diseased, or weak branches and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the ground. During the blooming season, regularly remove faded flowers to encourage the formation of new buds.
Maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods and for roses in pots. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer to promote continuous blooming and vitality. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
