About Sir John Betjeman (Ausvivid)

Be enchanted by the 'Sir John Betjeman' (Ausvivid), a David Austin rose that blooms from sturdy buds into beautiful, globular flowers in an intense deep pink shade. This vibrant color creates a striking contrast in your garden, a true eye-catcher that adds poetry to any outdoor space. The subtle, fresh apple fragrance envelops your garden with a refined scent, while the lush continuous blooming treats you to an unending floral display from early summer through late autumn.

With its compact and healthy growth, the 'Sir John Betjeman' is an excellent choice for both smaller gardens and the front edge of a border. It thrives beautifully as a solitary plant but also shines in groups, where it creates a lively pink sea. Perfect for classic cottage gardens, yet equally a modern addition that provides structure and color to any garden design.

Choose the unparalleled quality of Belle Époque Rose Nursery. For over 40 years, we have been growing the most beautiful roses with passion and craftsmanship as a family business in Aalsmeer. When you order the 'Sir John Betjeman' from us, you bring home a rose carefully cultivated directly from the grower. We guarantee healthy plants that promise years of blooming pleasure in your garden.

Care & Plants
Plant the 'Sir John Betjeman' in the fall (October-April) as bare root, or year-round as a potted plant, provided the ground is not frozen. Choose a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and ensure well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, enrich the soil with compost, and plant the rose so that the graft union is just below the soil surface.
Prune the 'Sir John Betjeman' in early spring, as soon as the worst frost has passed and the first buds become visible. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to 15-20 cm above the ground, just above an outward-facing bud. Trim off faded flowers throughout the season to encourage the formation of new flower buds.
Water the 'Sir John Betjeman' regularly during dry periods, especially in the first year after planting. Fertilize in spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer to encourage a rich and continuous flowering. A layer of mulch around the base helps keep the soil moist and nutritious.
