Insect Hotel – attract beneficial insects to your garden
Provide bees, ladybugs, butterflies, and other beneficial insects with a place to shelter, nest, or hibernate with an insect hotel from Belle Epoque. These hotels are available in three sizes (30 cm, 50 cm, and 70 cm) and are handmade in the woodworking shop of GewoonDoen, a social and sustainable workplace.
Why place an insect hotel in your garden?
Beneficial insects play a crucial role in your garden's ecosystem. They aid in pollination, assist in natural pest control, and contribute to healthy soil. For instance, ladybugs eat aphids, and solitary bees ensure better fruit setting in plants – including roses. By hanging an insect hotel, you provide these helpers with a safe place and increase biodiversity.
Choose the size that fits your garden:
-
30 cm – compact and ideal for smaller gardens or balconies
-
50 cm – balance between size and functionality, suitable for various types of insects
-
70 cm – striking and richly filled, perfect for larger gardens or as an eye-catcher
All models:
- Handmade from natural, untreated wood
- Filled with reeds, logs, pine cones and bamboo
- Equipped with hanging eye
- Weatherproof design
Whether you are a beginner gardener or already have a flower paradise: an insect hotel is a valuable addition that has an immediate effect on your garden and your roses.
Tip for placing an insect hotel:
Hang the insect hotel in a sunny, dry spot - preferably facing south or southeast. Make sure the hotel is at least 30 cm above the ground, firmly attached, and free from rain impact. Place it near flowers or shrubs (such as roses), so that the insects have food nearby. This greatly increases the chance that your hotel will be occupied quickly!
70cm height only available in the store or special transport.
Roses in Pots
A potted rose is a rose plant that has been pre-grown in a pot and comes with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly into the garden or a larger container — no need to wait for new root growth. This makes potted roses ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May to October.
Bare Root Roses
Bare root roses are rose plants supplied without soil or pots. These roses are in their dormant stage and can be planted directly into the ground. The best time to plant bare root roses is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and temperatures are mild.
At Belle Epoque, we supply bare root roses from November to April. Thanks to their strong root systems and the right planting conditions, these roses quickly grow into healthy, vigorous shrubs or climbing roses with abundant blooms.
Products are shipped weekly on Mondays & Shipped directly from the nursery on Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimize our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
