About Charles Darwin (Auspeet)

Be enchanted by the Rosa Charles Darwin (Auspeet), a masterpiece from the renowned David Austin collection. This English rose reveals a beautiful transformation: from round, full buds to elegant, shallow cups in a refined color palette. The warm yellow tones subtly blend into sandy hues with a hint of lemon, creating a soft, natural look that enriches any garden. The delicate, mild to medium citrus fragrance completes the experience, adding a subtle aromatic pleasure to your outdoor space.

With its strong and bushy growth habit, the Charles Darwin is a versatile addition to various garden styles. It excels as an impressive shrub rose in borders, blooming continuously from June to October, adding depth and color to mixed plantings. Its beauty also shines when grown as a solitary plant. Thanks to its ability to form a small climbing rose, you can also train it along a low wall, fence, or obelisk, giving your garden a vertical dimension.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of passion and expertise in Aalsmeer, we cultivate Rosa Charles Darwin with the utmost care and dedication. We guarantee you a healthy, strong plant, directly from our nursery. Our sustainable cultivation methods and extensive knowledge ensure that you receive a rose that is not only beautiful but also offers years of gardening pleasure and excellent disease resistance. Choose the proven quality of Belle Époque and enjoy a blooming garden.

Care & Plants
Plant potted roses all year round, except during frost; bare-root roses from October to April. Choose a sunny spot with well-draining, fertile soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, enrich the soil with compost, and plant the rose so that the graft union (swelling) is just below the ground. Water generously after planting.
Prune the rose annually in late winter or early spring, just before new growth begins. Remove dead, damaged, or diseased branches and cut back the remaining branches to 1/3 to 2/3 of their length to promote a healthy, open structure. Remove spent flowers throughout the season to encourage continuous blooming.
Water the Charles Darwin rose regularly, especially during dry periods and in the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring and again in July with a special rose fertilizer for a rich bloom. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
