Great Tit Nesting Box – A Natural Helper for Your Rose Garden
Hanging a nesting box in your garden is not only a beautiful way to welcome birds, it also has direct benefits for your plants. This handmade great tit nesting box is the first product from our collaboration with the woodworking workshop of GewoonDoen, a social enterprise through Our Second HomeEach nesting box is made with care and an eye for sustainability.
Why install a nesting box for great tits?
The great tit is a common bird in Dutch gardens. During the breeding season—from March onward—this bird seeks a safe place to build a nest. This nest box provides great tits with a sheltered nesting area, which is not only beneficial for biodiversity in your garden but also for your roses.
Great tits help keep your roses healthy
One of a great tit's favorite meals? Caterpillars, aphids, and other insects that can damage your rose bushes. By encouraging a great tit to nest in your garden, you naturally help maintain balance and reduce pesticide use. This way, you keep your roses—from shrub roses to climbing roses—strong and healthy.
Features of the nest box:
- Made from circular wood
- Suitable for great tits, blue tits and other small garden birds
- Sturdy hanging hook
- Opening door for easy cleaning after the breeding season
- Handmade in collaboration with JustDo Woodworking Shop

Roses in a pot
A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for roots to develop. This makes the potted rose ideal for year-round planting, especially May to October.
Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants that are delivered without pots or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in the ground. The best time to plant a root rose is autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature is mild.
At Belle Epoque we supply bare root roses from November to AprilThanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and floriferous shrubs or climbing roses.
Products are shipped weekly on Mondays & Shipped directly from the nursery on Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimize our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
