Collection: Japanese Rose (Camellia)

The Japanese Rose Camellia at Belle Epoque

At Belle Epoque we are excited to announce a new addition to our assortment: the beautiful Japanese rose Camellia! Although we do not currently grow this elegant plant ourselves, we can bring it directly from the grower to you as a consumer, without any middlemen.

History of the Camellia

The Camellia, often known as the Japanese rose, has a rich history that dates back centuries in Asia. The plant was first cultivated in China and Japan, where it was loved for its beautiful flowers and glossy leaves. In the 18th century, the Camellia was introduced to Europe and quickly became a favorite in the gardens of royalty and exotic plant lovers.

Fun fact: when Belle Epoque started in 1978/1979, we grew Camellias in addition to our beloved roses. Although we do not currently grow our own Camellias, we hope to offer our own again in the future. For now, we are proud to work with a trusted fellow grower who shares the same passion for quality and beauty.

Our Assortment

We offer three enchanting varieties of the Camellia:

  • Camellia White : A symbol of purity and elegance, perfect for creating a serene and classic look in your garden.
  • Camellia Red : This fiery variety represents love and passion, and adds a dramatic touch to any outdoor space.
  • Camellia Pink : With its soft and romantic appearance, this variant is ideal for adding a touch of sophistication and charm.
