About Thomas A. Beckett (Auswinston) (on stem)

The David Austin standard rose 'Thomas A. Beckett' (Auswinston) is a true tribute to English rose cultivation, straight from the hands of the master. This rose enchants with its intensely deep red, loosely filled flowers that radiate an unparalleled warmth. From early summer to late autumn, it fills your garden with a rich, classic rose fragrance, a scent that evokes memories of bygone times and pure romance. 'Thomas A. Beckett' is more than a rose; it is a statement of strength and timeless elegance, a characterful addition for every garden lover.

With its elegant standard height of 90 cm, the 'Thomas A. Beckett' creates a striking centerpiece in any outdoor space. Its compact, bushy growth makes it ideal for decorative pots on terraces and balconies, where it can shine solo. In borders, it adds depth and structure, beautifully contrasting with fresh green leaves and a range of lighter perennials. It is a robust presence that effortlessly finds its place in both classic English gardens and modern designs.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of passion and craftsmanship in Aalsmeer, we guarantee you the very best quality. Every 'Thomas A. Beckett' standard rose is sustainably and carefully cultivated by us, ensuring you a healthy, strong plant that provides years of bloom and enjoyment. Choose the expertise of Belle Époque and bring a piece of Dutch rose tradition into your home, directly from our nursery to your garden.

Care & Plants
Plant the 'Thomas A. Beckett' standard rose in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny spot. When planting in the ground, ensure there is enough space and dig a generous planting hole. For pots, use a large pot with drainage holes and special rose soil. Plant the graft union just above ground level.
Prune the standard rose annually in early spring, after the last frost. Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the graft union, or until the desired shape is maintained. This promotes new growth and abundant flowering.
Water the 'Thomas A. Beckett' rose bush regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Fertilize in spring and after the first bloom with special organic rose fertilizer to encourage abundant flowering. A mulch layer around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
