About Nye Bevan (Auspital)

Be enchanted by the timeless elegance of the 'Nye Bevan', a David Austin rose that enriches your garden with its soft yellow, cup-shaped flowers. These airy beauties open in a radiant, creamy shade and gracefully fade to cream, surrounded by fresh, semi-glossy green leaves. Its characteristic, gentle myrrh scent fills the air with a refined perfume, while the spectacular, continuously blooming clusters adorn your garden with light and color from June well into autumn. Named after the visionary founder of the NHS, the 'Nye Bevan' carries not only aesthetic beauty but also a special symbolism of care and resilience.

Whether you have an intimate city garden, a spacious border, or a sunny balcony, the versatile 'Nye Bevan' feels at home everywhere. Its medium-sized, upright growth makes it ideal as a solitary eye-catcher, in lush rose hedges, or mixed flower beds. Due to its compact size, it is also perfectly suited for large pots and containers, adding a touch of English charm. Additionally, it is excellent as a cut rose to beautify your interior and later in the season produces decorative rose hips.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the 'Nye Bevan' directly from the grower. As a family business with over 40 years of experience, we cultivate our David Austin roses with unmatched passion and craftsmanship. Each rose, carefully selected and sustainably grown, guarantees top quality and a flourishing addition to your garden. Choose the expertise of Belle Époque and enjoy a rose lovingly nurtured.

Care & Plants
Plant the 'Nye Bevan' preferably in the fall (October-November) or early spring (March-April) as bare root, or year-round from a pot. Choose a sunny location with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and well-draining, fertile soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, allow enough spacing (about 60-80 cm for shrub, 100-150 cm for climbing), and plant the graft union just below ground level.
Prune the 'Nye Bevan' in early spring, around March, when the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the ground. Regularly remove spent flowers and any rose hips to encourage continuous blooming and keep the shrub healthy.
Give the 'Nye Bevan' regular water, especially during dry periods and in the first growing season after planting. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with a special rose fertilizer for optimal growth and flowering. Applying a mulch layer of compost around the base helps retain moisture and gradually nourishes the soil.
