About Kingfisher

Be enchanted by the 'Kingfisher', an extraordinary Nostalgic® hybrid tea rose that lives up to its name with a breathtaking color palette. Like the colorful kingfisher, this exclusive creation from Rosen Tantau (2016) surprises with a unique transformation: cool violet on the outside of the semi-double, quartered flowers, opening to a warm copper-orange heart. This spectacular display is further enhanced by an intense, exotic fragrance that stimulates every sense and adds a touch of mystique to your garden or terrace.

The 'Kingfisher' is not only a feast for the eyes but also a robust addition to any outdoor space. Thanks to its healthy and strong growth habit and high resistance to diseases, this shrub rose is ideal for borders as well as pots on your balcony or terrace. It also thrives beautifully in flower beds, rose hedges, and is even an excellent choice for a cutting garden, where its large, double flowers are perfect as long-lasting cut roses for a vase.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, we have cherished the art of rose growing for over 40 years. The 'Kingfisher' is a testament to our passion and craftsmanship, sustainably grown with the utmost care and expertise. As a family business, we guarantee you a top-quality rose, straight from the nursery, ready to enrich your garden with its unparalleled beauty and exclusivity. Choose the 'Kingfisher' and bring a piece of Belle Époque quality into your home.

Care & Plants
Plant the 'Eisvogel' in well-draining, fertile soil in a sunny location. When planting in pots, ensure there are enough drainage holes and use quality potting soil. Allow for a spacing of about 60-80 cm between multiple shrubs. Plant the rose deep enough so that the graft union (the swelling between the root and stem) is just below the soil surface.
Prune the 'Eisvogel' annually in March, after the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, diseased, or weak branches down to healthy wood. Cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the ground for compact growth and abundant flowering. Spent flowers can be removed throughout the season to encourage new bud formation.
Water the 'Eisvogel' regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season after planting. Fertilize the rose in early spring and again in July with special rose fertilizer to promote abundant blooms and healthy growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
