Japanese Rose BI – Hime is a refined Japanese miniature rose with an elegant, almost gentle appearance. Its deep pink flowers with a light center bloom abundantly and give the plant a soft, feminine look. This is a rose that adds charm without being overpowering.

Hime is small in stature, but grand in presence.

The meaning of the name

Hime (姫) means Princess in Japanese. In Japanese culture, this word stands for grace, refinement, and inner beauty. Not excess, but elegance in bearing and detail — exactly what this rose shows.

Japanese origin & breeding

Hime was bred by Hiroshi Hirabayashi in Japan and introduced by Keisei Rose Nurseries Inc. in 1997.
The official registration name is KEIfupie, while Hime was used as the exhibition name.

The rose belongs to the group of miniature roses, known for their compact growth and abundant flowering.

Flower & scent

  • Flower color: deep pink with white center

  • Flower shape: semi-double (9–16 petals), flat

  • Flower size: approx. 4–5 cm

  • Scent: clearly present, pleasant

  • Blooming: in waves throughout the season

Despite its small flower size, Hime blooms richly and long-lastingly, continuously adding color to the garden.

Growth & use in the garden

Japanese Rose BI – Hime is a compact rose that is perfect for smaller spaces.

  • Height: approx. 50–80 cm

  • Type: miniature rose

  • Foliage: dark green, slightly glossy

  • Use: borders, pots, low planting, small gardens

Because of its size, Hime is also very suitable for terraces and patios.

Japanese Rose BI – refined beauty

Hime is part of the Japanese Rose BI selection of Belle Epoque.
BI (美) stands for beauty in the Japanese sense: attention to detail, balance, and feeling.

Within the collection, Hime represents the soft, elegant, and refined character.

Roses in pots

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.

Roses with bare roots

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.

Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
