About Francis E. Lester

Be enchanted by the graceful Rosa ‘Francis E. Lester’, a climbing rose that transforms your garden with its unique charm and rich history. From June, this beautiful rose adorns itself with clusters of single, large-flowered white roses, each subtly accented by a delicate pink edge and a radiant yellow heart of stamens. The strong, classic rose fragrance fills the air and also attracts numerous bees and butterflies, creating a lively and fragrant oasis. After the spectacular blooming period, ‘Francis E. Lester’ surprises you with an abundance of decorative orange-red rose hips, offering a visual spectacle deep into autumn and adding extra dimension to the garden.

With its vigorous growth and lush bloom, Rosa ‘Francis E. Lester’ is the ideal choice to beautify vertical elements in your garden. Let it climb elegantly against a pergola, an old tree, a fence, or a wall, where it creates a breathtaking floral carpet. This rose is perfect for creating romantic views or as an impressive eye-catcher that draws admiration both during the blooming period and in late summer with its rose hips. It also thrives excellently in a large pot, provided it has enough space and support.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of passion and craftsmanship, we cultivate Rosa ‘Francis E. Lester’ with the utmost care and expertise. Directly from our nursery in Aalsmeer, we deliver a healthy, strong rose plant ready to enrich your garden with its unparalleled beauty. Our many years of experience guarantee top quality, ensuring you receive a rose grown with love and sustainability.

Care & Plants
Plant ‘Francis E. Lester’ in autumn (October-November) or spring (March-April) in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole and mix the soil with compost. Provide adequate support for the climbing branches and maintain a planting distance of at least 100 cm for optimal growth. For pot planting, choose a very large pot.
Prune the rose immediately after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage the production of rose hips. In late winter or early spring, remove dead, damaged, or weak wood. Older branches can be pruned back gradually to a strong shoot to rejuvenate the plant.
Water Rosa ‘Francis E. Lester’ regularly, especially during dry periods and in the first growing year. Fertilize in early spring with special rose fertilizer and possibly again after the first bloom. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Forty years of nothing but roses

Belle Époque is a family business, not a wholesaler. From our greenhouses in Aalsmeer, we have been growing only roses for over four decades — and every plant we send out is personally selected by us. This way, you receive not a catalog rose, but a plant ready to grow.

Goede kwaliteit

Stevige roos, goede ent met vertakkingen en stevig wortelstelsel. Deze zal prima aanslaan. Veel betere kwaliteit dan bij andere kwekers. Prima verpakt voor bezorging.
