About Westerland

The Rosa ‘Westerland’ is a true eye-catcher among climbing roses, famous for its enchanting color transformation. The semi-double flowers open in a vibrant orange shade and gracefully change to a soft salmon pink glow. Its strong, spicy fragrance envelops your garden from June through October with an unmistakable summer atmosphere. Even outside the blooming season, ‘Westerland’ captivates with its young, bronze-red shoots, adding extra dynamism to the plant.

With its vigorous, bushy growth and sturdy branches, ‘Westerland’ is ideal for training against a sunny or partially shaded facade, pergola, or low wall. This robust climbing rose, which can grow 2 to 3 meters tall, effortlessly creates a lush, flowering wall that adds character and depth to your outdoor space.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy roses directly from the grower, with over 40 years of family experience. This guarantees top quality, vitality, and plants cultivated with passion and expertise. Choose the sustainable roses from Belle Époque and give your garden a piece of Dutch top cultivation.

Care & Plants
Plant this climbing rose in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil, preferably in the fall (October-April for bare root) or year-round if planted from a pot. Ensure there is enough space for growth and provide sturdy support such as a pergola or wall. The graft union should be just below ground level.
Prune the Westerland lightly after winter, around March, when the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and shorten side shoots to 2-3 buds to encourage blooming. Keep the main branches that form the base intact.
Give the Rosa ‘Westerland’ enough water during dry periods, especially in the first year after planting. Fertilize annually in the spring (March/April) with special rose fertilizer for rich blooms and strong growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Westerland

Knowledgeable pro-nature team- Fine selection of Roses

I enjoyed my chat with the team of Belle Epoque about taking care of roses, supporting biodiversity and inviting more nature in your growing environment for biological pest control. I bought also their biological product for aphids, that invade my plants and got very practical tips from the team on how to control aphids in natural ways. I find their website very informative and well-structured. Thank you, Belle Epoque for your nice service.

Roos is prima

Roos is prima. Gelukkig met een stok in de pot zodat hij klem zat in de verpakking.
