Charles de Gaulle is a distinctive, large-flowered shrub rose that immediately stands out with its distinctive purple hue and powerful fragrance. This variety blooms profusely from May until well into October, filling your garden with color and fragrance for months to come.
The flowers are approximately 12 cm in diameter and appear on a sturdy, well-branched shrub about 85 cm tall and 50 cm wide. The fresh and spicy perfume, reminiscent of verbena, makes this rose a favorite for both the garden and the vase.
This rose prefers a sunny spot and thrives in any well-drained soil, including chalky soil. Plant in groups for a vibrant pop of color, or combine with white and yellow roses for a stylish contrast. Thanks to its excellent disease resistance and winter hardiness down to -15°C, Charles de Gaulle is easy to care for.

Roses in a pot
A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for roots to develop. This makes the potted rose ideal for year-round planting, especially May to October.
Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants that are delivered without pots or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in the ground. The best time to plant a root rose is autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature is mild.
At Belle Epoque we supply bare root roses from November to AprilThanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and floriferous shrubs or climbing roses.
