About Lady Judi Dench (Ausquaker)

The 'Dame Judi Dench' rose (Ausquaker), named after the iconic British actress, is a true star in any garden. This David Austin creation, introduced in 2017, enchants with its warm apricot color that subtly fades to softer shades at the edges. Its lush, deeply filled rosettes with ruffled petals and a charming button eye are a feast for the eyes. But it is the unique fragrance that truly makes it special: a refined tea aroma with surprisingly fresh top notes of kiwi and cucumber, a modern twist on a classic rose scent.

This versatile English rose combines healthy growth with an unprecedented abundance of blooms, from early summer well into autumn. With its elegant, slightly curved stems and glossy green, disease-resistant foliage, the 'Dame Judi Dench' is an ideal choice for various garden uses. It thrives beautifully as a large, richly flowering shrub rose of 150 cm, but can also grow into a charming small climbing rose up to 300 cm against a pergola, wall, or fence. Even on a north-facing wall or in partial shade, it will surprise you with its beauty, and as a cut rose, it brings its charm indoors.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the 'Dame Judi Dench' rose directly from the grower. With over 40 years of family experience, we guarantee you a strong, healthy plant, grown with passion and sustainable methods. We ensure that every rose leaving our nursery gets the best start to grow into a lush showpiece in your garden, providing years of joy and beauty.

Care & Plants
Plant bare-root roses from October to April; potted roses can be planted year-round, as long as the ground is not frozen. Choose a spot with at least 4 hours of sunlight per day and well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, spread the roots, and ensure the graft union is just below the soil surface. Water generously after planting.
Prune the 'Dame Judi Dench' in early spring (March/April), after the last severe frost. Remove dead, diseased, and crossing branches, and shorten the main branches to 3-5 buds. Regularly cut off faded flowers to encourage continuous blooming.
Water the rose regularly, especially during dry periods and after planting. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer for optimal growth and flowering. A mulch layer around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
