About The Mill on the Floss (Austulliver) (standard form)

Dive into the enchanting world of the David Austin standard rose ‘The Mill on the Floss’ (90 cm), a rose that captures the essence of playfulness and refinement. Its richly filled flowers bloom in a charming mid-pink and gradually transform into a delicate soft pink shade, beautifully accented by subtle dark red petal edges. Each flower is a unique work of art, sometimes shining solo, other times in graceful clusters, creating a dynamic and natural effect. Enjoy its light, sweetly refined fragrance and its tireless reblooming, lasting from early summer well into autumn.

With its elegant standard height of 90 cm, ‘The Mill on the Floss’ forms a stunning crown that enriches your garden with movement and character. This David Austin rose is an ideal eye-catcher in borders, on terraces, or as a solitary potted plant, where its natural, informal growth habit adds a touch of relaxed English atmosphere. The versatile pink shades harmonize perfectly with lavender, white roses, or ornamental grasses, fitting effortlessly into both classic and modern garden styles.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of passion and expertise, you are assured of top quality. Our exclusive David Austin standard roses, including 'The Mill on the Floss', are sustainably grown with care and craftsmanship in the heart of Aalsmeer. Each rose is personally selected for its strength, health, bloom, and unique fragrance, so you receive a plant that brings years of joy and beauty to your garden, directly from our nursery.

Care & Plants
Plant the rose in a sunny to partially shaded location with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole and ensure that the graft union (the swelling on the stem where the branches grow) is just above the ground after planting. Potted roses can be planted year-round, provided there is no frost.
Prune the standard rose in early spring, after the last severe frost (February/March). Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches of the crown to about 10-15 cm above the graft union to maintain an open and healthy structure.
Water the rose regularly during dry periods and after planting, especially in pots where the soil dries out faster. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with a specialized organic rose fertilizer. A layer of mulch around the stem helps keep the soil moist and nutritious.

Forty years of nothing but roses

Belle Époque is a family business, not a wholesaler. From our greenhouses in Aalsmeer, we have been growing only roses for over four decades — and every plant we send out is personally selected by us. This way, you receive not a catalog rose, but a plant ready to grow.
