About Peace / Glory of God

The Rosa ‘Peace’, also known by its beautiful names ‘Gloria Dei’ and ‘Mme. A. Meilland’, is not just any rose; it is a living legend and perhaps the most famous rose in the world. After World War II, this icon was spread as a powerful symbol of peace and harmony, and since then it has been one of the most beloved large-flowered roses of all time. Its enchanting, large, full blooms open with a soft, sunny yellow base and develop a subtle, carmine red edge, creating a breathtaking play of colors that lasts throughout summer and autumn. The delightful, distinctive fragrance of ‘Peace’ enhances the serene atmosphere this historic rose brings.

With an impressive height ranging from 80 cm to over 2 meters, the Rosa ‘Peace’ is extraordinarily versatile. It looks magnificent as a majestic solitary showpiece but also adds unforgettable charm to borders, where it effortlessly outshines other plants. Even in a spacious pot on your terrace or balcony, it creates an oasis of calm and beauty. This rose has not been awarded numerous international prizes and the title of Top Rose for nothing: it is particularly healthy, vigorous, and reliable, making it a successful and rewarding choice even for beginner rose lovers, in both sun and partial shade.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you can buy this iconic ‘Peace’ rose directly from the grower. With more than 40 years of family experience and a deep-rooted passion for roses, we guarantee you the very best quality. Our roses are cultivated with care and expertise, respecting nature and the tradition of sustainable cultivation. Choose Belle Époque and bring a piece of rose history and top quality into your home, straight from our nursery to your garden.

Care & Plants
Plant bare-root roses between October and April, and potted roses throughout the year, as long as the ground is not frozen. Choose a sunny to partially shaded spot with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, ensure the graft union is just below the soil surface, and water generously after planting.
Prune the Rosa ‘Peace’ in early spring, as soon as the worst frost has passed (February/March). Remove dead, diseased, or weak wood and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the ground, or to about 15-20 cm. Regularly remove faded flowers during the blooming season to encourage new blooms.
Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first year after planting. Fertilize the rose in spring (March/April) and after the first bloom (July) with special rose fertilizer for abundant flowering and healthy growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Geen gewortelde rozen in pot

De rozen hebben helemaal niet “ geworteld” in de pot! Alle grond viel er van af toen ik ze heel voorzichtig uit de pot haalde. Dit klopt niet zo. Jammer

Reply from Belle Epoque
