About The King's rose (Aus27a16) (NEW 2025)

Discover in 2025 the unparalleled beauty of 'The King's Rose' (Aus27a16), a majestic David Austin creation that will transform your garden. This rose, a royal tribute to King Charles III, blooms with semi-double, softly open flowers that resemble hand-painted watercolors, each unique with playful stripes in fuchsia and soft cream white, inspired by classic Gallica roses. The refined, fresh scent of light musk tones, blended with hints of apple juice and rosewater, enchants the senses. 'The King's Rose' grows healthy and elegant in a vase shape, boasting striking heart-shaped leaves and, in winter, graceful warm orange rose hips that also provide a welcome food source for birds. Its rich bloom and natural appearance attract bees and butterflies, making it not only a feast for the eyes but also a valuable ecological asset for your outdoor space.

With its stately growth and lush bloom, 'The King's Rose' is an excellent choice for various garden applications. Plant it as a solitary eye-catcher to fully showcase its royal allure, or create a spectacular effect by grouping 3 to 5 roses in borders and mixed plantings. It also feels at home in a romantic cottage garden, where its unique color palette and natural charm blend effortlessly into the surroundings. This rose promises an unforgettable addition to any garden, offering months of enjoyment with its repeat-flowering character.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of experience in Aalsmeer, you buy 'The King's Rose' directly from the grower. We specialize in growing quality roses, with a special passion for English roses and David Austin varieties. Our roses are cultivated with care and craftsmanship, focusing on sustainability and the best growing conditions. Choose Belle Époque and bring a piece of Dutch grower quality into your home, so you can enjoy a healthy and beautifully blooming 'The King's Rose' for years to come.

Care & Plants
Plant bare-root roses between October and April, and potted roses year-round, as long as the ground is not frozen. Choose a location with at least 6 hours of sunlight and nutrient-rich soil; plant in groups of 3-5 for a spectacular effect, with a spacing of about 60-80 cm.
Prune 'The King's Rose' in early spring, around March, to maintain a compact and healthy shrub and encourage blooming. Regularly remove spent flowers (deadhead) during the blooming season to direct the plant's energy toward new buds and promote a longer, richer rebloom.
Ensure a nutritious and well-draining soil. Water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing year. Fertilize in early spring and again after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer, and consider a mulch layer to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
