The Vaso del Prete is one of the most characterful models from the Tuscan terracotta tradition. With its elegant shape, wide rim, and warm terracotta color, this handmade pot immediately brings the atmosphere of an Italian villa or monastery garden to your own terrace and garden.
Each pot is handmade from high-quality Tuscan clay. Thanks to centuries-old craftsmanship, a durable terracotta pot with a natural appearance is created that only becomes more beautiful over the years.
The Vaso del Prete is available in two sizes:
- 37 cm diameter × 34 cm high
- 50 cm diameter × 45 cm high
The perfect pot for roses
Roses feel right at home in Tuscan terracotta. The natural clay allows air and moisture to pass through, keeping roots healthy and allowing excess water to drain more easily.
The smaller 37 cm version is ideal for a patio or compact shrub rose, while the generous 50 cm version is perfect for larger English roses, richly blooming shrub roses, or a combination of several plants.
At Belle Epoque, we like to combine the Vaso del Prete with fragrant David Austin roses, special historic roses, or colorful continuously blooming garden roses. The warm terracotta tone enhances the colors of the flowers and provides a timeless, romantic look.
Tuscan atmosphere on your terrace
Besides roses, the Vaso del Prete is also beautiful when planted with lavender, sage, rosemary, or other Mediterranean plants. By combining different sizes of Tuscan pots, you create an atmospheric Italian garden experience where scent, color, and nature come together.
Artisan made in Tuscany
Each Vaso del Prete is individually finished by Tuscan artisans. Small differences in color, texture, and finish make every pot unique. The high-quality clay is known for its durability and frost resistance, allowing the pot to remain outdoors for many years.

Advice from Belle Epoque
For the best results, we recommend filling the pot with high-quality rose soil and placing a drainage layer at the bottom. This creates the ideal conditions for healthy roots and abundant blooms.
The Vaso del Prete is an investment in beauty for years of garden enjoyment. An authentic Tuscan terracotta pot that showcases roses and other garden plants to their best advantage.
Roses in pots
A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.
Roses with bare roots
Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.
At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.
Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
