Queen of Denmark at a glance
Queen of Denmark brings nearly two centuries of rose history to your garden. This historic rose, also known as ‘Königin von Dänemark’, was introduced by Booth in 1826 and belongs to the Alba roses. It therefore predates the Belle Époque and fits beautifully into a collection of classic garden roses.
Her richly filled flowers open into a refined rosette, with a deeper pink centre and softer outer petals. The grey-green foliage provides a beautiful backdrop for the flowers. Her powerful, classic rose fragrance makes her especially appealing to lovers of fragrant garden roses.
Queen of Denmark blooms once each summer. In June and July, she produces a rich display that suits the character of many historic roses. Afterwards, the shrub remains a valuable addition to the garden with its graceful growth and attractive foliage.
Give her a place in a romantic border, as a standalone shrub or in an informal rose hedge. She grows both in full sun and light partial shade. Preferably prune immediately after flowering, so the new branches can develop for the following flowering season.
Forty years of nothing but roses
Belle Époque is a family business, not a wholesaler. From our greenhouses in Aalsmeer, we have been growing only roses for over four decades — and every plant we send out is personally selected by us. This way, you receive not a catalog rose, but a plant ready to grow.
"Beautiful climbing rose, bloomed abundantly in the very first year! Well packaged and exactly what I expected based on the description. Belle Époque truly delivers top quality."
"The rose is well packaged and looks beautiful. Fast delivery, and the personal advice via email was very valuable — I wasn’t sure where to plant it."
"Amazing quality & service. I ordered two New Dawns and they are developing beautifully in the garden. Fast shipping from Aalsmeer to Belgium — would absolutely order again."
