Paul Neyron at a glance
Paul Neyron is a rose that is hard to overlook. Its exceptionally large, full flowers are warm pink with lilac undertones. The many wavy petals give the blooms a lush appearance reminiscent of peonies. Sturdy stems hold the flowers above the shrub.
This historic rose was introduced in 1869 by the French breeder Levet, just before the beginning of the Belle Époque. It belongs to the hybrid perpetuals, an important group of nineteenth-century garden roses that combine large flowers with repeat blooming. Paul Neyron beautifully showcases this love of lavish blooms.
Its bowl-shaped flowers appear in successive flushes from June onward. With adequate feeding and watering, and by removing spent flowers, it can bloom again into autumn. It is also an attractive cut rose: just a few flowers make a generous bouquet.
Paul Neyron grows vigorously and upright. Give it a place in a spacious border or a traditional rose bed, where its large flowers can shine. Airy perennials make a lovely complement around the base of the shrub.
Plant it in fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny spot or light partial shade. Allow plenty of room to grow, and water at the base during dry spells. An annual application of compost and suitable rose fertilizer will support its growth and repeat flowering.
Forty years of nothing but roses
Belle Époque is a family business, not a wholesaler. From our greenhouses in Aalsmeer, we have been growing only roses for over four decades — and every plant we send out is personally selected by us. This way, you receive not a catalog rose, but a plant ready to grow.
