Charles de Gaulle is a characterful large-flowered shrub rose that immediately stands out because of its special purple hue and powerful scent. This variety blooms abundantly from May until far into October, filling your garden with color and scent for months.
The flowers have a diameter of about 12 cm and appear on a sturdy, well-branched shrub of about 85 cm high and 50 cm wide. The fresh and spicy perfume is reminiscent of verbena and makes this rose a favorite for both garden and vase.
This rose prefers a sunny spot and grows well in any well-drained soil, including calcareous soils. Plant in groups for a strong color accent, or combine with white and yellow roses for a stylish contrast. Thanks to the excellent disease resistance and winter hardiness up to -15°C, Charles de Gaulle is easy to maintain.

Roses in Pots
A potted rose is a rose plant that has been pre-grown in a pot and comes with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly into the garden or a larger container — no need to wait for new root growth. This makes potted roses ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May to October.
Bare Root Roses
Bare root roses are rose plants supplied without soil or pots. These roses are in their dormant stage and can be planted directly into the ground. The best time to plant bare root roses is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and temperatures are mild.
At Belle Epoque, we supply bare root roses from November to April. Thanks to their strong root systems and the right planting conditions, these roses quickly grow into healthy, vigorous shrubs or climbing roses with abundant blooms.
Products are shipped weekly on Mondays & Shipped directly from the nursery on Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimize our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
