Step into a world of poetic beauty with 'The Poet's Wife' (Auswhirl), a David Austin rose that enchants the senses. Its round, lushly filled flowers open in a radiant, intense lemon yellow shade that subtly fades at the edges, like a soft brushstroke on a canvas. The heart of the flower reveals an informal, almost glowing cluster of inner petals, adding depth and playfulness. What truly makes this rose unique is its unparalleled fragrance: an ultra-rich lemon scent that grows stronger and sweeter as the flower matures. In perfect harmony with its glossy dark green leaves, it forms a sparkling centerpiece in any garden.

'The Poet's Wife' excels with its compact growth and excellent winter hardiness, making it an ideal choice for the front of borders, charming cottage gardens, or even as a solitary plant in smaller spaces. It can also be beautifully trained as a small climbing rose, for example against a low wall or fence, where its repeat-flowering nature treats you to an abundance of fragrant blooms from June well into October. A versatile beauty that adapts to your garden dreams.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, a family business with over 40 years of passion and craftsmanship in Aalsmeer, you buy 'The Poet's Wife' directly from the grower. We cultivate our David Austin roses with the utmost care and expertise, focusing on sustainability and top quality. Experience the unparalleled charm and enchanting lemon fragrance of this special English rose, straight from the hands of the rose experts who lovingly raised it.

Roses in pots

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.

Roses with bare roots

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.

Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
