About Snow White (XL climbing rose)

The Rosa ‘Schneewittchen’, known worldwide as ‘Iceberg’, is a true legend in the world of roses and an indispensable classic in the Belle Époque collection. This iconic XL climbing rose, bred by Reimer Kordes in 1958, has fascinated for decades with its pure, creamy white beauty and abundant blooms. From June well into autumn, it adorns the garden with clusters of semi-double flowers that have a soft, open structure and emit a subtle, fresh fragrance. Its repeat-blooming nature and excellent health, awarded the title Top Rose, make it a timeless favorite.

As a vigorous climbing rose, the ‘Schneewittchen’ is perfect for transforming walls, pergolas, arches, or fences into a blooming cascade of white. The fresh green leaves create a stunning contrast with the bright blossoms, which also attract bees and butterflies. Thanks to its robustness and disease resistance, this rose is a reliable choice for both beginner and experienced gardeners seeking a serene and elegant look in their outdoor space. It also thrives beautifully in a large pot on the terrace.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the Rosa ‘Schneewittchen’ directly from the grower. With over 40 years of family experience, we guarantee a strong, healthy, and carefully cultivated rose, ready to enrich your garden. Our passion for roses and sustainable cultivation methods ensure you receive a top-quality product, grown with love and expertise.

Care & Plants
Plant the ‘Schneewittchen’ between March and September as a potted plant, or between October and April as bare root. Choose a sunny to partially shaded spot with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, enrich the soil with compost, and make sure the graft union is just below ground level. Water generously after planting.
Prune the climbing rose in early spring, after the last frost. Remove dead or diseased wood and shorten the side shoots to 2-3 buds for compact growth and abundant flowering. You can tie new main shoots horizontally to encourage blooming along the entire branch.
Water the ‘Schneewittchen’ regularly during dry periods, especially in the first year after planting. Fertilize in early spring and again in summer with a special rose fertilizer to encourage abundant blooming. A mulch layer around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
