Madame Lieve

Meet ‘Madame Lieve’, an exclusive shrub rose developed especially for Belle Epoque. This exceptional rose was created through a collaboration between Belle Epoque and rose breeder Dirk from Aalsmeer.

The rose is named after Lieve, Dirk’s daughter. Her name beautifully suits the flower’s soft and elegant character. At the same time, ‘Lieve’ evokes the feeling of something dear and beloved—exactly what this special rose represents to us.

Dirk is not only the breeder, but also my mentor in the profession. He is now passing on to me the knowledge he learned from his grandfather and father. In this way, several generations of experience, craftsmanship, and love for roses come together in a new generation of Belle Epoque roses.

‘Madame Lieve’ stands out with its beautifully structured flowers, soft appearance, and elegant interplay of colors. The flower is perfectly balanced and has an artistic form you can keep admiring. A light and subtle fragrance completes its understated character.

For the garden and as a cut rose

This versatile beauty feels at home in a flower border, but can also be planted in a spacious pot. Use a pot with a diameter of at least 50 cm so the roots have sufficient room to grow. The flowers are also suitable for cutting and look beautiful in romantic bouquets.

‘Madame Lieve’ is currently available only in a limited edition. This makes it particularly appealing to rose collectors and garden enthusiasts looking for an exclusive rose with a personal story.

Belle Epoque’s own rose collection

The names ‘Mme’ and ‘Mlle’ will be the distinctive hallmark of the roses from Belle Epoque’s own breeding program. This program is still small-scale, but its first exceptional creations are now a reality.

In November 2026, ‘Mlle Lola June’, ‘Mme Vivienne Grace’, and ‘Mme Élodie Grace’ will be introduced alongside ‘Mme Lieve’. ‘Mme Lilly Grace’ will follow in 2027, and we expect three more new creations in November of that year.

Step by step, a unique collection of roses with character is taking shape. Roses in which the craftsmanship of several generations lives on, specially selected and developed for Belle Epoque.
