About Kew Gardens

The David Austin rose 'Kew Gardens' (Ausfence) enchants with an unparalleled beauty reminiscent of a summer snowfall. From delicate apricot-colored buds unfold countless small, single-flowered wonders, gathered in lush clusters that resemble hydrangeas. The pure white palette, subtly accented with a touch of lemon yellow around the stamens, creates a light and airy spectacle. This English rose, lightly scented and almost thornless, invites touch and admiration, and is a delight for bees and butterflies.

With its strong and healthy growth, 'Kew Gardens' is a versatile addition to any garden. It excels as a shrub rose in borders, creates charming hedges, or stands beautifully as a solitary eye-catcher. Thanks to its tolerance for light shade and even a north-facing wall, this rose opens new possibilities for more challenging spots in the garden. The constant flow of flowers from May to October, followed by decorative red hips if not pruned, guarantees long-lasting visual enjoyment.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, your family business with over 40 years of passion and expertise, you are assured of top quality. Our 'Kew Gardens' roses are carefully and skillfully grown in Aalsmeer, directly from the grower to your garden. We guarantee healthy, strong plants that, with proper care, will provide years of flowering pleasure. Choose the proven quality and sustainability of Belle Époque and enrich your garden with a rose lovingly nurtured.

Care & Plants
Plant the 'Kew Gardens' rose in a spot with well-draining, nutrient-rich soil, in full sun or light shade. Ensure enough space; a planting distance of about 60-90 cm is ideal for shrub roses. When planting a potted rose, this can be done year-round, while bare-root roses are best planted between October and April.
Prune the 'Kew Gardens' rose in early spring, after the last frost, to keep the bush in a nice shape and encourage growth. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to about one-third of their length above an outward-facing bud. Removing spent flowers or formed hips throughout the season promotes continuous reblooming.
Ensure regular watering during dry periods, especially during blooming and for young plants. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with a special rose fertilizer to support flowering and vitality. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
