Insect hotel – attract beneficial insects to your garden

Give bees, ladybugs, butterflies, and other beneficial insects a place to shelter, nest, or overwinter with an insect hotel from Belle Epoque. These hotels are available in three sizes (30 cm, 50 cm, and 70 cm) and handmade in the woodworking shop of GewoonDoen, a social and sustainable workplace.

Why place an insect hotel in your garden?
Beneficial insects play a crucial role in your garden's ecosystem. They ensure pollination, help with natural pest control, and contribute to healthy soil. For example, ladybugs eat aphids, and solitary bees improve fruit set in plants – including roses. By hanging an insect hotel, you give these helpers a safe place and increase biodiversity.

Choose the size that fits your garden:

  • 30 cm – compact and ideal for smaller gardens or balconies

  • 50 cm – balance between size and functionality, suitable for various insect species

  • 70 cm – striking and richly filled, perfect for larger gardens or as an eye-catcher

All models:

  • Handmade from natural, untreated wood
  • Filled with reed, wood blocks, pine cones, and bamboo
  • Equipped with hanging eyelet
  • Weather-resistant design

Whether you are a beginner gardener or already have a flower paradise: an insect hotel is a valuable addition that has an immediate effect on your garden and your roses.

Tip when placing an insect hotel:
Hang the insect hotel in a sunny, dry spot – preferably facing south or southeast. Make sure the hotel hangs at least 30 cm above the ground, is securely attached, and protected from rain. Place it near flowers or shrubs (such as roses) so the insects have food nearby. This greatly increases the chance that your hotel will be quickly inhabited!

70cm height only available in store or special transport.

Roses in pots

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted directly in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for root growth. This makes the potted rose ideal for planting throughout the year, especially from May through October.

Roses with bare roots

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants delivered without a pot or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in open ground. The best time to plant a root rose is in autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare-root roses from November through April. Thanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and bloom-rich bushes or climbing roses.

Products are shipped directly from the nursery every Monday and Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimise our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
