About Port Sunlight (Auslofty)

The 'Port Sunlight' (Auslofty) is a David Austin rose that enchants your garden with its warm, radiant presence. Its large, rosette-shaped flowers, up to 9 cm wide, are richly filled with countless delicate petals displaying a beautiful apricot-peach color. As the flowers mature, the shades gently fade, creating a dynamic and lively play of colors. The young, bronze-red leaves and stems form a stunning contrast with the flowers and later turn a deep green. One of its most beloved features is the strong, pleasant Tea Rose fragrance that unmistakably drifts through the garden.

This versatile English rose blooms abundantly and reliably from early summer to late autumn, allowing you to enjoy its beauty for months. 'Port Sunlight' is especially suitable as a large shrub rose in borders, mixed beds, or as a solitary plant, where it forms an impressive focal point. Thanks to its vigorous growth, it can also be beautifully trained as a small climbing rose against a wall, fence, or obelisk, where its fragrant flowers can be admired at eye level. Moreover, the elegant flowers are excellent as cut roses, so you can enjoy their charm indoors as well.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the 'Port Sunlight' rose directly from the grower. As a family business with over 40 years of experience in growing roses, we guarantee superior quality. We select and cultivate all our roses with passion and expertise, with respect for sustainability and nature. Choose the proven quality and expertise of Belle Époque and enrich your garden with this beautiful, award-winning David Austin rose, straight from our nursery.

Care & Plants
Plant bare-root roses between October and April, and potted roses throughout the year, as long as the ground is not frozen. Choose a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight and well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. Dig a spacious planting hole, ensure the graft union (swelling) is just below ground level, and water thoroughly after planting.
Prune the rose in early spring (March), as soon as the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, diseased, or crossing wood and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds. Regularly cut away faded flowers to encourage the formation of new flower buds and extend the blooming period.
Give the 'Port Sunlight' regular water, especially during dry periods and when the plant is in bloom. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with a special rose fertilizer for optimal growth and flowering. A layer of mulch around the base helps keep the soil moist and nutritious.
