1. Leave the roots of the rose in a bucket of water for about 2 hours before planting them in the ground so that they are well hydrated.
2. Loosen the soil with a spade and dig a planting hole wide enough to allow the roots to lie freely without being folded. The inoculation point (where the large side shoots start from the root) should be about 5 cm below the ground. This protects the rose against frost and prevents proliferation.
3. Add a few handfuls of garden soil or rose soil to the planting hole and place the rose in it. Make sure the roots are well distributed in the hole.
4. Press the soil firmly with your foot so that the roots make good contact with the soil and the plant is stable.
5. Give the rose plenty of water after planting, and repeat this during dry periods, except when it is freezing.
