About The Lady Gardener (Ausbrass)

Discover the enchanting 'The Lady Gardener' (Ausbrass) rose, a true gem for any garden. Its large, lush flowers about 10 cm wide unfold in a perfect rosette shape, with loosely arranged petals that subtly fade from a deep apricot core to softer shades at the edges. This David Austin creation delights the senses with a refined tea fragrance, enriched with warm, earthy notes of cedarwood and a hint of sweet vanilla. A rose that not only pleases the eye but also touches the soul with its unique character and atmosphere.

Whether you dream of a rich border, a striking solo plant in your garden, or a charming addition in pots on your terrace, 'The Lady Gardener' is exceptionally versatile. Its healthy, medium growth makes it suitable both as a beautiful shrub rose and a small climbing rose that gracefully adorns walls or obelisks. Thanks to its rich and continuously blooming nature, you can enjoy its breathtaking flowers throughout the season, which are also perfect as elegant cut roses for indoors.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy the 'The Lady Gardener' rose directly from the grower, with the assurance of over 40 years of family experience. We cultivate our roses with passion and expertise, prioritizing sustainability and quality. Choose the expertise of a specialist and enrich your garden with a rose carefully selected and grown, ready to provide years of enjoyment with its unparalleled beauty and fragrance.

Care & Plants
Potted roses can be planted all year round, as long as the ground is not frozen. Bare-root roses are preferably planted between October and April. Choose a well-draining location with sufficient sunlight and a planting distance of about 60-90 cm for shrubs or 100-150 cm for climbing roses. Dig a spacious planting hole, improve the soil with organic material, and ensure that the graft union (swelling) is just below the ground.
Prune 'The Lady Gardener' in early spring, after the last frost, to keep the shrub in shape and encourage new growth. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds. Cut off faded flowers immediately throughout the season to promote the formation of new flower buds.
Water the rose regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring and again after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer for abundant flowering and healthy growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
