About Eustacia Vye (Ausegdon)

Be enchanted by the romantic allure of the Eustacia Vye® (Ausegdon), a masterpiece from the David Austin collection and a true eye-catcher in any garden. Inspired by Thomas Hardy's iconic character, this English rose unfolds a treasure of apricot-pink flowers that open in an elegant, shallow cup shape. The abundance of petals subtly changes shade as they mature, while the red-tinted stems add an extra touch of color and contrast. Each flower is a work of art in itself, enriched with an intense, fruity fragrance that stimulates the senses and attracts bees and butterflies.

The Eustacia Vye® is a robust and versatile shrub rose, perfect for various garden uses. With its bushy, healthy growth and a height of about 90 to 140 cm, it is ideal as a solitary centerpiece, in lush borders, or as a charming hedge. Its beauty also shines fully in a spacious pot on the terrace. This repeat-flowering rose surprises you from early summer to late autumn with its continuous floral display. Its excellent resistance to wind and diseases also makes it ideal for both open, sunny locations and spots with partial shade, even on a north-facing wall.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery in Aalsmeer, you buy your Eustacia Vye® directly from the grower. With over 40 years of family experience in rose cultivation, we guarantee you a top-quality rose, grown with passion and sustainability. We stand behind healthy plants that, with proper care, will enrich your garden for years. Choose the expertise and service of a family business that shares a love for roses.

Care & Plants
Plant your rose in the fall (October-November) or early spring (March-April) for the best start. Ensure well-draining, nutrient-rich soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Dig a spacious planting hole, mix the soil with compost, and make sure the graft union (swelling) is just below the ground. Water generously after planting.
Prune the Eustacia Vye® in early spring (around March), once the harshest frost has passed. Remove dead, damaged, or weak wood and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds above the ground for strong blooming. Regularly pinch off spent flowers to encourage new bud formation.
Water the rose regularly during dry periods, especially in the first growing year. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer. Mulching with organic material helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
