About James Galway (Auscrystal)

The 'James Galway' rose is a true ode to timeless beauty, a David Austin creation that transforms any garden with its lush, soft pink flowers. These classic fully double roses appear in graceful clusters and radiate a pure elegance reminiscent of the grandeur of the Belle Époque. Its robust character and rich, classic rose fragrance make it an irresistible presence, a symbol of romance and refinement that makes every rose lover's heart beat faster.

Thanks to its strong and healthy growth, the 'James Galway' is surprisingly versatile. Whether you train it as a majestic climbing rose along a pergola, wall, or rose arch, or shape it as an impressive large shrub rose in a border or as a solitary specimen, this rose excels. Even in a generous pot on the terrace, its blooming splendor comes fully into its own, making it a reliable eye-catcher that blooms from spring well into autumn.

At Belle Époque Rose Nursery, your family business in Aalsmeer with over 40 years of passion for roses, you are assured of top quality. We cultivate our 'James Galway' roses with the utmost care and expertise, directly from the grower to your garden. Our sustainable cultivation methods guarantee healthy, vigorous plants ready to enrich your outdoor space with their unparalleled beauty and fragrance. Choose the expertise of Belle Époque and experience the difference.

Care & Plants
Preferably plant the 'James Galway' rose in the fall (October-November) or early spring (March-April) as bare root. Potted roses can be planted year-round, provided the ground is not frozen. Ensure sufficient planting distance (about 70-100 cm for a shrub, depending on the desired width) and soak the roots in water briefly before planting.
Prune the 'James Galway' in early spring, around March, when the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches and cut back the main branches by about one-third to maintain a compact shrub. If it is a climbing rose, train the main branches horizontally and prune the side shoots back to 2-3 buds for abundant flowering.
Provide a nutritious, well-draining soil. Water regularly and deeply during dry periods, especially in the first growing year. Fertilize in early spring and after the first bloom with special rose fertilizer, and mulch the base with compost for extra nutrients and moisture retention.
