Care & Plants
Plant this rose in a sunny spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. When planting a potted plant, dig a spacious planting hole and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the ground surface. For bare-root roses, plant between October and April and make sure the graft union is just below the soil, with a planting distance of about 60-80 cm.
Prune the 'Winchester Cathedral' in early spring, around March, when the worst frost has passed. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches and cut back the remaining branches to 3-5 buds. Regularly remove spent flowers (deadheading) to encourage the formation of new buds and continuous blooming.
Water the rose regularly and deeply during dry periods, preferably early in the morning. Fertilize in early spring and again after the first bloom with a special rose fertilizer to promote abundant flowering and healthy growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
