DIY Rose Water: Step-by-step Guide

DIY Rozenwater: Stap-voor-stap Gids - Belle Epoque

Make your own rose water with this simple method.

What do you need?

  • 2 large handfuls of fragrant organic rose petals
For example, choose Chandos Beauty, Prince Jardinier or another fragrant rose.
  • 300 ml distilled water
Fresh, clean rainwater can also be used.

Instructions:

  1. Collect the rose petals:
Pick the petals in the morning when they are most fragrant. Rinse them gently to remove dirt or dust.

  2. Prepare the water:
Put the rose petals in a shallow saucepan with a lid and add the distilled or rainwater.

  3. Heat gently:
Place the pan on low heat and let the water slowly come to a boil. Once it reaches boiling point, turn off the heat.

  4. Let steep:
Let the rose petals steep in the warm water for two hours with the lid on the pan. This allows the scent and properties of the petals to infuse into the water.

  5. Strain the rose water:
Use a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the rose petals. The strained rose water is now ready for use.

  6. Storage:
Pour the rose water into a clean spray bottle or a small glass bottle of your choice. Store it in the refrigerator for optimal freshness.

Usage tips:

  • Use as a refreshing facial spray.
  • Add to bath water for a relaxing experience.
  • Use in recipes for a subtle rose aroma.

With this simple DIY, you always have natural and wonderfully fragrant rose water on hand! 🌹
