The densely packed petals have a soft, silvery pink to creamy white base with more pronounced pink edges. They look almost translucent in the light. Her powerful rose fragrance, with a fruity note, makes this historic rose even more appealing.

This Bourbon rose arose as a spontaneous color mutation of ‘La Reine Victoria’. It retained the rounded flower shape and fragrance but acquired a much softer color. It was introduced by Verdier in 1878. This makes Mme Pierre Oger a true rose of the Belle Époque, with the refinement and romance so fitting for the period.

Mme Pierre Oger shows why Bourbon roses became so beloved: they combine the charm of old garden roses with repeat flowering. Her flowers appear in successive flushes from June, with another lovely flush in autumn when the weather is favorable.

The shrub grows slender and upright. Give her a place in a romantic border, beside a garden path, or next to a seating area, where you can enjoy her flowers and fragrance up close. She pairs beautifully with airy perennials that give her distinctive flower shape room to shine.

Choose a sunny, airy spot with fertile, well-drained soil. Her delicate flowers can be sensitive to prolonged rain, and the foliage can be susceptible to black spot and powdery mildew.
