Great Dixter Transplanting Shovel – Precision Tools for Every Gardener

The Great Dixter transplanting shovel from Sneeboer &Zn is an indispensable garden tool for anyone who wants to work with care and precision in the garden. This trowel was specially designed in collaboration with renowned British gardener Christopher Lloyd, known for his work at Great Dixter in East Sussex. He preferred a narrow, sturdy, and deep trowel, allowing him to effortlessly plant between densely planted flowers and shrubs.

The sharp, hand-forged blade easily penetrates clay or compacted soil, making it ideal for digging planting holes, transplanting seedlings, and cutting roots. The blade is slightly curved to hold more soil and allow for greater precision. The ergonomic wooden handle provides a comfortable grip and optimal power transfer.

Why this will become your favorite kick:

  • Hand-forged from stainless steel
  • Narrow and deep leaf (approx. 5 cm wide, 16 cm long)
  • Perfect for planting in full borders
  • FSC-certified wooden handle (ash or cherry wood)
  • Ideal for precision work, transplanting and weeding
  • Designed at the request of Christopher Lloyd (Great Dixter)

Roses in a pot

A potted rose is a rose plant that has already been grown in a pot and is delivered with a well-developed root system. These roses are ready to be planted in the garden or in a larger pot, without having to wait for roots to develop. This makes the potted rose ideal for year-round planting, especially May to October.

Bare root roses

Bare-root roses – also called root roses – are rose plants that are delivered without pots or soil. These roses are dormant and can be planted directly in the ground. The best time to plant a root rose is autumn or early spring, when the soil is still moist and the temperature is mild.

At Belle Epoque we supply bare root roses from November to AprilThanks to the well-developed root system and the right planting conditions, these roses grow vigorously into healthy and floriferous shrubs or climbing roses.

Products are shipped weekly on Mondays & Shipped directly from the nursery on Wednesday. By delivering only twice a week, we reduce logistical emissions and optimize our processes. This benefits both the quality of our products and the climate.
