Collection: Shade friendly
Roses for shady spots
Although roses are usually associated with sun-drenched gardens, it is also possible to create a blooming oasis in the shadier parts of your garden. With the right varieties and care, you can enjoy beautiful roses even in areas with less sunlight. At Belle Epoque, we have a special collection of shade-tolerant roses that are perfect for these challenging locations.
The right roses for shady spots
Not every rose needs full sun to bloom well. At Belle Epoque, we offer a selection of roses that thrive excellently in partial shade. These varieties are adapted to less light and will still deliver their characteristic floral splendor and fragrance, even in the shade. Our collection offers a wide range of colors and varieties, so you can enjoy beautiful roses even in the shady corners of your garden.
Minimum number of hours of sunlight
For the best results, we recommend planting shade-tolerant roses in spots where they receive at least four to five hours of direct sunlight per day. Morning sun is the most ideal, as it is gentler and gives the roses a good start to the day without the intense heat of the afternoon sun.
Care tips for shade-tolerant roses
- Soil Preparation: Ensure that the soil is rich and well-draining. Enrich the planting site with organic compost to increase nutrients and improve drainage.
- Watering: Roses that grow in the shade may be more susceptible to fungal diseases. Therefore, water at the base of the plant and avoid wetting the leaves. This helps keep the plant dry and reduces the risk of diseases.
- Pruning: Regularly prune away dead or overlapping branches to promote air circulation and evenly distribute available light across the plant. This keeps the plant healthy and strong.
